Raymond (Ray) T. Garcia has been
engaged in the upstream sector of the oil
and gas industry for his entire career. Upon
completion of his graduate engineering
studies at the University of Texas (Austin),
he began his professional career with Shell
Oil Company serving in various engineering
positions related to operations, reservoir
engineering and thermal recovery.
Subsequently he spent nine years in the
Exploration and Production Division of Texas
Eastern Corporation. There he held technical
and management positions in reserves
acquisitions, North Sea operations (London
based), International operations and
economic evaluations. After that, for two
years, he served as Chief Operating Officer
for Westmount Resources, Inc., an
independent oil and gas firm. In late 1981,
Ray Garcia established R. T. Garcia & Co.,
Inc.
Ray is a licensed Professional Engineer
in the State of Texas and holds an
Accredited Senior Appraiser designation with
the American Society of Appraisers.
Ray earned dual Bachelor of Science
degrees in Petroleum Engineering and
Mathematics at the University of Houston. He
then went on to earn a Master of Science in
Petroleum Engineering at the University of
Texas (Austin). Later in his career he
earned an MBA at the University of Houston
through the Executive Program.
Ray has been an active member in various
professional organizations, where he has
held both local and national offices. These
organizations include the Society of
Petroleum Engineers, Society of Petroleum
Evaluation Engineers, American Society of Appraisers, Houston Geologic Society and
Society of Independent Professional Earth
Scientists.
Ray is a native of Houston, Texas, and is
proficient in Spanish. Ray has a lengthy
record in community service particularly in
the educational arena. Of major note is his
service in public school governance,
including past service as a publicly-elected
Trustee, and Board President, of Harris
County Department of Education; he also
served as Board President/Trustee of a
state-chartered high school. . |
